What National Grid customers get

When you enroll in community solar, credits from a local solar farm are applied directly to your National Grid bill each month. You keep 5% of the credit value as savings. If you receive government assistance (HEAP, SNAP, Medicaid, SSI, TANF, or Veterans benefits), you may qualify for the boosted rate of up to 20%.

How it shows up on your bill

Your National Grid bill will show a new line item for solar credits. The credit reduces your bill total. You don't receive a separate invoice — everything stays on your existing National Grid statement.

Who qualifies

Any National Grid residential customer in New York with an active electric account. Renters qualify too — as long as the electric bill is in your name, you're eligible. No credit check, no installation, no equipment.

Stacking with other National Grid programs

Community solar stacks with National Grid's own assistance programs, including the Energy Affordability Program (EAP) and HEAP. Each reduces your bill through a different mechanism, and none cancel each other out.
