Where the discount comes from
The state's clean energy programs fund local solar farms that supply the same grid ComEd territory already runs on. Join, and you're allocated a share of a farm's output — its credits show up on your ComEd bill monthly.
What changes for you
Only the number at the bottom. ComEd still delivers your power over the same wires with the same reliability. Nothing gets installed, and you keep 10% of the credit value — up to 20% if income-qualified.
How enrollment works
Enrollment is with Ampion, a public benefit corporation that's been running Illinois solar programs since the state opened them up in 2016. You sign up online, nothing gets installed at your home, and credits appear on your existing bill.
ComEd territory households on LIHEAP, SNAP, Medicaid, or SSI: your savings double.
Illinois households receiving government assistance may qualify for the boosted rate — up to 20% of credit value kept as savings, verified during enrollment. Renters qualify too.

Is this a government program?
The savings come through Illinois' state-supported clean energy programs, but enrollment is with Ampion Renewable Energy, a public benefit corporation — not a government agency. Your ComEd service stays exactly the same.
Does it cost anything to join?
No sign-up fees, deposits, equipment, or installation costs. Nothing is installed at your home and there's nothing to buy.
How much can I save on my ComEd bill?
Most households keep 10% of their monthly credit value as savings. If you receive assistance — LIHEAP, SNAP, Medicaid, SSI, or similar — you may qualify for up to 20%. Eligibility is verified during enrollment.
I rent in ComEd territory. Can I still join?
Yes. Your share lives at a solar farm, not your building, so renters qualify the same as homeowners — no landlord involvement needed.
Will my lights or service change?
No. Same ComEd delivery, same wires, same reliability. The only change is credits appearing on your bill.
